Mosel-Schönheit Teil 8: Unser Heimatort Pommern
Pommern is one of the oldest wine-growing villages on the Moselle, has fewer than 500 inhabitants, but has a considerable density of winegrowers – some of which have won awards.
Even the Romans cultivated viticulture and cultivated tropical fruits. The wine village got its name from them: Pomaria – the fruit garden.
However, Pommern has much more to offer: Picturesque half-timbered houses, a beautiful village center, the Martberg temple complex , a fine patisserie , a well-known restaurant ostrich taverns and tasting opportunities, bathing access to the Moselle, wonderful hiking trails, its own small train station – only 5 minutes’ walk from away from our chalets – and, and, and!
In various blog posts we would like to devote ourselves – in a separate series – to our hometown. The residents, shops, attractions and fun and interesting stories all around. We hope you enjoy reading and discovering!
