Mosel Schönheit Teil 7: Die Burg Eltz
Versteckt, und doch ganz in der Nähe der Mosel Chalets
One of the most famous castles in the world is enthroned in the middle of the Elzbachtal forests: Eltz Castle . Her picture used to adorn our 500 mark note, today she is one of the most photographed subjects and Instagram darling of the travel blogger scene. Burg Eltz is a hilltop castle from the 12th century and is actually one of the most famous of its kind in Germany. It has been owned by the family of the same name for over 800 years.
The castle can be visited daily until the beginning of November. The tour of the castle takes the guest on a journey through eight centuries. One of the most important treasure chambers in Europe awaits you in the cellar vaults of Burg Eltz. But you need a day ticket and should expect a waiting time. Better be there before 10am or after 4pm on popular days.
You can easily do that, because from our Moselle Chalets you can reach the car park in about 20 minutes by car or via the beautiful Moselle cycle path in about 40-60 minutes.
Around Eltz Castle you will find the most beautiful hiking trails and a fantastic backdrop, just like here in the golden autumn.
You can find more castles on the beautifully designed website of the tourist information center in Mayen. Be sure to also watch the videos: https://www.elzerland.de
Have fun visiting the most beautiful castle in the world 😉
